UK-Japan 2008
Posted by: Annette Gelling on 25th Feb 2008 in Keechdesign News
2008 is an exciting year for creative collaboration between the UK and Japan; particularly for Keechdesign as we've just heard that our project with Orihica is now a UK-Japan 2008 accredited event.

UK-Japan 2008 is a year-long season of events, performances and exhibitions held in Japan. It will showcase the UK's contemporary creativity in the arts, in science and innovation, and in the creative industries. The aim of UK-Japan 2008 is to encourage greater bilateral partnership and collaboration in these fields.
From our point of view here at Keechdesign, the Orihica project fits perfectly: a British design company creating new clothing for a Japanese brand. The fact that fashion design isn't our usual bag makes it even more interesting, and according to the editorial staff of Japan's Best Gear magazine this collaboration is a first.
UK-Japan 2008 is organised by the British Embassy and British Council, working in partnership with a range of high-profile sponsors from UK and Japanese industry. These include HSBC, Nissan, Virgin Atlantic and Wedgewood. UK-Japan 2008 will facilitate over 100 events as part of this major season, of which the launch of the the Keechdesign/ Orihica shirt in Omotesando, Tokyo is one.
Other events already accredited include exhibitions of the UK's leading contemporary artists, theatre co-productions, showcase of UK Design, music performances, film festivals, business missions, and workshops for scientists. For more information visit http://www.ukjapan2008.jp
