Clothing for Orihica - Work in Progress
Posted by: David Keech on 31st Jan 2008 in Keechdesign News

As you will know from a previous blog, Keechdesign is currently designing shirts for Japanese fashion brand Orihica. The project is now well underway and is due for launch in March of this year.

This project fits perfectly with our cross-discipline approach and it is an interesting challenge to be considering stitching details that will ultimately appear on the Tokyo high street, whilst at the same time working on consumer product and retail projects for companies such as Toshiba and Yamaha.

The shirt materials have been selected, and we are into pre-production. We've even spent plenty of time working on the label - how best to brand a Japanese shirt designed by a British product and interior specialist? I have to say I stopped short of including a Union Jack.

The shots here are from a recent progress meeting in Tokyo, principally concerned with advertising the shirt. Present were Atsushi Hasebe, Senior Editor of Best Gear magazine. This is a Japanese lifestyle magazine focussing on fashion, hot products and the latest gadgets.

Best Gear magazine is published by Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co. which is one of the largest entertainment publishers in Japan. http://www.tokuma.jp Their products include music, computer and game software, movies (including anime), magazines, manga, books, and so on.

Other people at the meeting were Akihiro Aoki, president of Orihica (far right in the shot below) as well as staff from Cosmo Communications, who are Orihica's advertising agents.
